The Church of the Good Shepherd Cherry Hill

Our History

Get to know more about what makes us different.

The Church of the Good Shepherd was borne out of a vision God has incepted in the heart of South Jersey Bible Church International (SJBCI) - her Mother Church. The vision was to plant more churches in addition to the ones she had started.

The church's humble beginnings started with two groups which met weekly for Bible studies. One group met regularly in Cherry Hill west area, the other in east. Through the prayers and efforts of Rev. Ding Guevarra and Rev. Bob Tallent, a venue was opened for an initial worship service.

The first worship service was held September 2001 in Moorestown, NJ. Nineteen people were in attendance aside from the SJBCI families who helped pioneer the church.

In September of 2002, the Church relocated to Voorhees, NJ for their worship services held on Sundays at 4:30 PM. That same year, the church was organized and named as THE CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD IN VOORHEES.
As the ministry presented a greater need, the mother church appointed Pastor Darius Nable, then a deacon, to assume the leadership of the church, together with a few families from SJBCI who will carry the work of the Lord under Pastor Darius' pastoral leadership. In 2005, Pastor Darius Nable was officially commissioned as Pastor of the church, and in 2008, he was ordained into Pastoral Office.

In April 2009, The Church of the Good Shepherd was called out of Voorhees, NJ into the heart of the city of Cherry Hill, NJ. Her name was changed into THE CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD - CHERRY HILL, as an acknowledgement of the place in which God has replanted her.

The Church of the Good Shepherd - Cherry Hill continues to grow, by the grace of God, as more families from the surrounding areas join the Bible Study groups which are held every Wednesday, 7 - 9:00 PM.
